Nike Football (Soccer) Commercial for Euro2008
by: DS

This is a great commercial. This is the shorter version, you can see the longer version below from the YouTube Nike Soccer site.

The commercial is directed by Guy Ritchie and the music is Eagles of Death Metal’s “Don’t Speak”.

Here is the longer version:

Seattle news report with tons of insight in the technology of the near future
by: Sarah

Wow, that is quite the video there. This reports on Chrysler’s offer to cap gas prices, which have skyrocketed to a whopping $3.63 in my area recently, to $2.99 a gallon. Of course they have their stipulations, but who doesn’t.

Microsoft has signed a world wide deal with Kia and Hyundai so their customers will have the ability to use voice commands to control a number of different features with the use of their in-car software. For already is in the contract with Microsoft, but theirs will expire in November.

T-mobile has already launched their 3G network in New York, but now they have announced that Seattle is the next lucky city to get their 4x faster download speed. The new network launch will take place this fall, so get ready you Seattleites.

I don’t know many Zune people, but there are some out there, and this should excite them. Microsoft Zune fans will soon have the ability to download popular t.v. shows directly to their Zune!! At $1.99 each you can get shows like South Park, Battle Star Galactica, Heroes and my favorite The Office.

Webby Awards took place and guess who are the winners! That is correct, buzz travels fast, but Colbert is the Webby Person of the Year for connecting to his fans using the Internet. Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas won Webby Artist of the Year for his music video supporting Barack Obama. A few others are

Sony’s new Foam City advertisement for digital still and motion cameras
by: Sarah

This go around on the Sony commercial is not for Sony Bravia, but for their digital still and motion cameras. Good thing they followed along the same lines of the Bravia commercials though, those ones were graceful and all around cool. This one was done in Miami instead of London where they unleashed foam on the city. I love the reactions of the people who got to play in the foam, I wish I could have been there.

Kobe Bryan jumps an Aston Martin, is fake
by: Sarah

Those who were shocked by Kobe Bryant and his ultimate jump over the beautiful Aston Martin, well… It isn’t true.  It’s just a Nike commercial, and a good one at that.  It has gotten so much hype that I must say, well done to Nike.  The marketing kids over at Nike actually did a good job, they took something outrageous, yet probable and posted it on YouTube.  Where the internet community took it viral within a short period of time.  Now, the longevity of this commercial, at least among the internet crowd, might dwindle as the weeks wear on.  But, it still is a good commercial.  Here is Kobe saying, “It’s Hollywood,” when asked how he did it.

Meatloaf’s Paradise by the Dashboard Light altered for AT&T
by: Sarah

Paradise by the GoPhone Light

AT&T Cingular used Meatloaf to advertise their prepaid wireless phone plan, the GoPhone.

Why is it that AT&T sucks, but their commercials rock? I was less-than-blessed with AT&T’s internet and cable service and hated it. Luckily I’m out of that situation now, and I have less problems with internet connection loss. AT&T cannot seem to keep their internet connection going, but how is their dropped calls? They advertise the “less dropped calls than our competitors” bit, but do they actually drop less calls? I only drop like 5 calls a year on T-Mobile, tell me AT&T users, how many calls do your drop?

Here is an older AT&T commercial that we posted back in August, Cingular AT&T Dropped Calls | Meat Dept., but still is popular today. So rock on Meatloaf’s AT&T Paradise by the GoPhone Light.

Mac vs. PC | Macs are better commercial
by: Sarah

As a daily Mac user I love posting these adverts, but this one is a little out there.  Mac has its issues, I haven’t encountered any since I am still on the G4 and running the fine-tuned Tiger.

On the Windows side of life, have you heard about Johnny Knoxville helping out on the Windows side?  Apparently Knoxville is going to take on Justin Long.  That is just what I hear, but I sure do hope it’s true.

Skittles Piñata Commercial
by: Sarah

I have been seeing this creepy Skittles piñata commercial for quite some time and hadn’t tried them until today.

My friend and I went out and bought the new Skittles Chocolate Mix.  Her response to the flavor was, “I probably would not make a point to go out and buy them, but as a first tester they aren’t that bad, it’s candy, candy… candy.”

But I cannot agree, the little chocolately candies were a great disappointment.  I like that Skittles is trying to tackle other tastes, but these ones are bad.  The overall flavor lingers in your mouth to leave a bad taste.

iPod Touch’s new advertisement
by: Sarah

Another designer advert for the designer brand.  Anyone care to say otherwise?

Apple is just showing off the iPod’s ‘new’ fancy maneuvers, let me know when they get a bigger selection of memory.  Starting out with the 8 Gb and now the 32 Gb?  Yeah right, still too small for the amount of stuff you can put on it.

Any could easily fill that little gadget up, and not with just porn.. C’mon people that’s not what Apple intended, is it?  What perverts.

I do [in most cases] like Apple’s choice in music.

Justin’s fight with the Silpada freaks, take them out like zombies
by: Sarah

Over on AdChops, a sister site, there is a little war going on. Lia Sophia and Silpada lovers versus the rest of us. Now, this war has gotten a little out of hand but I am sure, along with Justin, that it is all in good fun. Either way, one thing lead to another and each of them were calling each other 500-pound beasts. Now that is funny right there, but these women decided that the only way to prove that is to send their pictures to Justin and have him judge their hotness.

Of course, Justin being the guy he is, he agreed and apparently has voted this Christy the hottest. You can go check out his blog to see at least one of the photos, and read the funny comments.

A little background history on the fight:

Justin, over on AdChops, wrote hilarious story a few months back, mixed with a little fantasy to make it more entertaining for the reader. His story is completely against Silpada Jewelery, but honestly, Silpada is gaudy and bulky. With his post being against the crowd, he has had over 160 comments of women fighting for the right to party! Silpada style.

Justin starts you out on his late night encounter with the Silpada crowd, 150 middle aged women in a bar and grill clinking around as they wave their hands with “Oh I have the best Silpada party story…” I completely understand his reaction, that would be and awfully frightening situation for a 30-something guy.

Silpada

For those in the dark, Silpada is a ‘hand crafted’ jewelry idea that was sparked between two middle-aged women with nothing better to do with their lives than eat bon-bons and plague the world with the word “Silpada-ish.”

The Silpada crowd is more towards the 20-something to 40-something (plus) crowd… I am only 20, and so I guess I am not exactly the target market, then again, neither is Justin. I’ll have to agree with Justin that Silpada is unattractive on women, “I mean Christ, look at the photos in my post - that one chick looks like she’s wearing the entire fucking Great Barrier Reef on her neck”

Go join the fight if you are in love with your neck-straining, back-breaking, wrist-snapping Silpada Jewelery.
